Sheriff Darrell Crandall is in his 30th year with the Sheriff’s Office. He began as a jail guard in 1985, moved to patrol the following year, and was assigned to the state drug enforcement unit for more than 20 years, leaving as Commander, when he returned as the Chief Deputy Sheriff in 2013. Darrell was elected Sheriff in November of 2014, and lives in Houlton with his wife Jane. They have three children.

 

Chief Deputy Shawn Gillen has been with the Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. He also began in the jail, worked as a transport officer and a patrol deputy before being assigned to the state drug unit in 2001. Shawn left the drug unit, as a supervisor, in January, when Sheriff Crandall appointed him Chief Deputy. Shawn lives with his wife Amy in Blaine. They have three children.
