HUNTING & FISHING
With more than eighteen thousand acres of undeveloped forestland, the area is a great spot for hunting, fishing and trapping. Resident and non-resident hunting, fishing and archery licenses are available at the town office. If hunting and fishing is your passion, you can make the experience in the deep woods in a tent or take advantage of local sporting camps and guides in Smyrna and the surrounding towns. Stop and visit awhile in town and enjoy the endless moose hunting tales and local fish stories.
RECREATION
If you live in Smyrna or if you just stopped by for a visit – we offer four seasons recreation. We kick off the year with snowmobiling, skiing, (down hill Mountains – within ½ hour) cross-country skiing on trails meandering across beautiful farms, blanketed with fresh fallen snow. Ice skating with family and friends on lakes and ponds frozen in a pattern of sparkling diamonds in the crisp outdoors with the air so fresh you just want to breathe deeply and sigh. Ice fishing on local lakes is a favorite past time of many locals. Springtime brings baseball, softball, more fishing, canoeing and kayaking. You can catch a mess of fish, pick a bushel of fiddleheads and have a scrumptious meal compliments of nature! Summer time brings four wheeling, hiking, swimming, baseball, golfing nearby, and weekly live entertainment at the local Community Center. Summertime also brings strawberry festivals hosted by local churches and alumni associations. Summer nights are spent out doors listening to the frogs, birds, crickets and stargazing. Fall time brings hunting, trapping, hiking and watching the night sky for Northern Lights. We have local riding stables in town, and close by – a four season's resort and a Red Deer farm. Smyrna boasts a local motel and restaurant. Within minutes are local hunting guides and hunting lodges. All people should be fortunate enough to live, work and play as we do in Smyrna. Lest you think all we do is play – residents of Smyrna and the surrounding towns, are some of the hardest working people you will ever meet.
